٨٣٨ - ملك الحبشة إسحق بن داود بن يوسف، الملقب بالحَطِّي (٥)، صاحب أمحرا، المتوفى في ذي القعدة سنة ثلاث وثلاثين وثمانمائة. وملك بعد هلاك أبيه سنة ٨١٢. وعظم أمره. وقد إليه بعض مماليك الأتراك من مصر فرتبوا له لوازم السلطنة، فصار ملكًا متميزًا زيه عن زي رعيته، إذا ركب أخذ في يده صليبًا من ياقوت وضعه على فخذه فأوقع بمن في بلاده من المسلمين وقائع شنيعة، فأزال دولة سعد الدين وأسر ابنه منصور، وكتب إلى بلاد الفرنج يحثها على المسلمين من البحر إذا قدم هو من البر فعاجله الله وأهلكه. ومعنى حَطِّي: السلطان وكان تحت يده تسعة وتسعون ملكًا هو تمام المائة. ذكره جمال الدين في "المنهل".
