٧٢٩ - الشيخ الكبير أبو الحسن أحمد بن أبي الحَواري ميمون وقيل أحمد بن عبد الله الدمشقي الصُّوفي (٣)، صاحب المناقب الجميلة والكرامات الجزيلة، المتوفى سنة ثلاثين ومائتين (٤). كان في الطبقة الأولى من طبقات المشايخ، وكان الجنيد يقول: أحمد بن أبي الحواري ريحانة الشام، صحب أبا سليمان الداراني وسفيان بن عيينة وجماعة من المشايخ وطلب العلم ثلاثين سنة، فلما بلغ منه المقصود حمل كتبه إلى البحر فأغرقها، ثم قال: نعم الدليل كنت على [هدي] ربي ولكن لما ظفرت بالمدلول فالاشتغال بالدليل محال. ذكره الجامي و"نوادر الأخبار".
