٣٦١ - الإمام الشاعر أبو الفضل أحمد بن حسين بن يحيى بن سعيد المعروف ببديع الزمان الهمداني (١)، المتوفى في جمادى الآخرة سنة ثمان وتسعين وثلاثمائة وهو صاحب "الرسائل" الرائقة و"المقامات" الفائقة وعلى منواله نسج الحريري "مقاماته" واقتفى أثره واعترف في خطبته بفضله. سكن هَرَاة وأخذ اللغة عن ابن فارس وغيره، ثم بَرز وكان أحد الفضلاء (٢) الفصحاء وله نظم حسن ونثر مليح، يقال: إنه سُمَّ وأخذته سكتة فدفن سريعًا بهراة وسمع صراخه بالليل فنبش قبره فإذا هو قد مات وهو آخذ على لحيته. ذكره ابن خَلِّكان وغيره.
