٢٨٨ - الإمام عز الدين أبو العباس أحمد بن إبراهيم بن عمر بن الفرج بن أحمد الفاروثي الواسطي الشافعي (٦)، المقرئ الواعظ الخطيب الصوفي، المتوفى بواسط في ذي الحجّة سنة أربع وتسعين وستمائة، عن ثمانين سنة. قرأ وسمع من ابن الزّبيدي والشهاب السُّهْرَوردي ومنه لبس خرقة التصوف ببغداد وحدَّث بالحرمين والعراق وجاور بمكة، فقرأ عليه قاضي الحرم وشيخه محمد الطبري، ثم تولى المشيخة والخطابة بدمشق، ثم عاد إلى واسط. وكان فقيهاً صوفياً. ذكره السبكي وغيره.
