٢٤٨ - عبد الله بن محمد بن الوكيل، البغداديُّ، الحافظُ، المحدثُ. أحدُ من عُني بالحديث، وسمع الكثير من الرهاوي وغيره. وكان حافظًا مفيدًا مشهورًا بسرعة القراءة وجودتها، جمع وحدَّث وأجاز، له رسالة إلى السامري - صاحب "المستوعب" - ينكر عليه فيها تأويله لبعض الصفات، وقوله: إن الأخبار الآحاد لا تثبتُ بها الصفات. توفي رح سنة ٦٤٣، ودفن خلف بشر الحافي.
