٢١٦ - حماد بن هبة الله بن حماد، أبو الثناء، الحرانيُّ، التاجرُ، السَّفارُ، المحدِّثُ، المؤرخُ. ولد سنة ٥١١، وتوفي سنة ٥٩٨. سمع ببغداد من جماعة من الحفاظ، وبهَراةَ ومصر والإسكندرية من الحافظ السِّلفي، وجمع تاريخًا لحران، وحدث به فيها، وله شعر جيد، روى عنه: الحافظ الرهاوي، والعلم السخاوي، وغيرهما. أنشد ابن رجب بسنده عنه قول أبي نواس:ألا رُبَّ وجهٍ في التراب عتيقِ ... ألا ربَّ رامٍ في التراب رفيقِ أرى كلَّ حيٍّ هالكًا وابنَ هالك ... وذو حسب في الهالكين عريقِ فقل لمقيم الدار: إنك ظاعِنٌ ... إلى سفرٍ نائي المحلِّ سحيقِ إذا امتحنَ الدنيا لبيبٌ، تَكَشَّفَتْ ... له عن عدوٍّ في ثيابِ صديقِ
