١٥٤ - عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن الحسنِ يعرف بابن عساكر، الدمشقيُّ. صنف في الحديث والفقه، ودرس في مواضع، وكان يتورع من المرور في رواق الحنابلة؛ لئلا يأثموا بالوقيعة فيه؛ لأن عوامهم يبغضون بني عساكر؛ لأنهم شافعية أشاعرة، وعرضوا عليه ولايات ومناصب، فتركها. توفي سنة ٦٢٠، ومولده سنة ٥٥٠.
