    ٩٠٣ - على بن أحمد بن محمد أبو الحسن الحاكم الإستراباذى. كان من كبار أئمة الشافعية بسمرقند، كان يكتب عامة نهاره وهو مع مهابرة ذلك يقرأ القرآن طاهرًا لا يشغله هذا عن هذا، وكان يقرأ كل يوم ختمة، وكان قد سأل اللَّه في جوف الكعبة القوة على القرآن وعلى إتيان النساء فاستجيب له ذلك، قال الحافظ أبو حفص عمر النسفى: وحدَّث سنة اثنتين وثلاثين وأربعمائة.
