٨٨٧ - محمد بن الحسين بن موسى أبو عبد الرحمن السلمى الأزدى. الصوفى سبط إسمعيل بن نجيد السلمى، كان شيخ الصوفية وعالمهم بخراسان، صنف لهم التاريخ والسير والتفسير وغير ذلك، قال عبد الغافر: وبلغت فهرست إملاء تصانيفه أكثر من مائة. وخلف أكثر من أربعين سنة إملاء، حدث عن الأصم وغيره، وعنه الحاكم والقشيري أبو القاسم والبيهقى وغيرهم، ولد سنة ثلاثين وثلثمائة، ومات سنةاثنتى عشرة وأربعمائة.
