محمد بن خلف بن حيّان بن صدقة بن زياد، أبو بكر القاضي الضّبّيّ المعروف بوكيع (٤). كان عارفا بالسّير وأيام الناس وأخبارهم، تقلّد القضاء على كورة الأهواز. وله تصانيف، منها: كتاب عدد آي القرآن، وكتاب الأنواء، وكتاب أخبار القضاة وتواريخهم (٥)، وكتاب الغرر: فيه أخبار، وكتاب الشريف: يجري مجرى كتاب المعارف لابن قتيبة، وكتاب الطريق ويعرف بالناجي (٦): يشتمل على أخبار البلدان ومسالك الطّرق ولم يتمّه، وكتاب النقد والصّرف والسّكّة، وكتاب البحث.مات القاضي وكيع في سنة ستّ وثلاث مائة.
