محمَّد بن أحمد بن يزيد، الواسطي. كذا في "النسخة المطبوعة" من "المستدرك" (١/ ٣٢٩/ ٨٠٣): أخبرنا أبو بكر محمَّد بن الحسين بن مصلح الفقيه بالري، وثنا محمَّد بن أحمد بن يزيد الواسطي. قال مقيده - عفا الله عنه -: صوابه كما في "الإتحاف" (١٦/ ١٠٧٧/ ٢١٦٥٨): أنا أبو بكر محمَّد بن الحسين بن مصلح الفقيه بالري، ثنا محمَّد بن أحمد بن يزيد الواسطي. بحذف واو العطف، وعليه فالواسطي هذا ليس بشيخ الحاكم وإنما شيخ شيخه، وبه يظهر خطأ ما جاء في كتاب "رجال الحاكم" (٢/ ١٥٨) من عده شيخًا للحاكم، وأنالسبب في ذلك ما سبق بيانه، والله الموفق.
