    علي بن محمَّد بن سختويه بن نصر، أبو الحسن، النَّيْسابُوري. كذا ذكر الحاكم أباه باسمه، ولم يذكره بلقبه "حمشاذ" كعادته غالبًا، ولذا خفي أمره على بعض الباحثين، وذهب بعض الفضلاء إلى أن "محمَّد" مصحف من "حمشاذ" وليس الأمر كذلك، كما سبق بيانه، وورد في "المدخل إلى الصحيح" (١/ ١٤٢): علي بن محمَّد بن شختويه -بالشين المعجمة- والصواب أنه بالسين المهملة. وقد تقدمت ترجمته في "علي بن حمشاذ" واسمه محمَّد بن سختويه.
