٥٨٧٧ - موفّق الدّين أبو الحسن عليّ بن أبي الفرج الاسكندريّ المحدّث. حدّث الاسكندريّ عن الحافظ أبي طاهر السلفيّ وطبقته، ومولده بالاسكندريّة في شهر ربيع الأوّل سنة سبع وثلاثين وخمسمائة وتوفّي بها في يوم الجمعة سادس شهر ربيع الآخر سنة أربع وعشرين وستّمائة، [قال] قال محمّد ابن منصور الطوسي: سمعت أحمد بن حنبل يقول: رأيت النّبي ﷺ في النوم فقلت: يا رسول الله: حدّث عنك أبو هريرة بالّذي قال؟ [قال]: صدق أبو هريرة أنا حدثت [هـ].
