    ٥٣٥٤ - معين الدّين أبو الفرج غالب بن العبّاس بن الليث الرقّيّ الأديب. [قال] قال أبو الحسين ابن الصابئ في تأريخه: ورد كتاب ركن الدّولة أبيعليّ بن بويه على أبي محمّد المهلّبيّ (١) يقول فيه: بلغنا كثرة المساجد والحمّامات ببغداد وانّهما بالنقص [ظ] ممّا كانا عليه من قبل، فأحصيت المساجد فكانت تتجاوز حدّ الاحصاء، ولا أذكر ما قيل فيها، وأمّا الحمّامات فكانت سبعة عشر ألف حمام، وعجبنا من تفاوت النّقصان. وقد ذكر الخطيب أنّ حمّامات بغداد كانت سبعين ألف حمام.
