(١) كان شابّا فاضلا كيّسا دمث الأخلاق تام الذكاء حسن الملتقى متودّدا جميل المعاشرة شهيّ المحاضرة، قدم بغداد مع أخيه الصاحب عفيف الدين [محمّد] واشتغل وحصّل ودأب وتأدّب وكتب لي أوراقا من نظمه الرائق بخطّه الفائق فممّا أنشدني لنفسه: ما اسم زهر من النبات أنيق ... نشره فاق كلّ طيب وعطر هو نبت وبعضه حيوان ... فتعجّب لما به من سرّ إن تصفّحه فهو كلّ عام ... قادم لا يخلّ طول الدهر وسألته عن مولده فذكر أنّه ولد بالحلّة سنة اثنتين وستّين وستّمائة وتوفّي شابّا في
