٢٩٥٧ - قفل الفتنة أبو حفص عمر بن الخطاب بن نفيل العدوي القرشي، أمير المؤمنين. قد ذكرنا ألقابه الشريفة على ما اقتضاه ترتيب الكتاب (١)، قال أرباب السير: إن عمر ﵁ حجّ متتابعا من سنة أربع عشرة الى سنة ثلاث وعشرين وقتله أبو لؤلؤة غلام المغيرة بن شعبة، طعنه ثلاث طعنات إحداهن تحت سرّته وهي التي قتلته وطعن اثني عشر رجلا من أهل المسجد فمات منهم سبعة ثم نحر نفسه بيده فمات وذلك يوم الأربعاء لأربع ليال بقين من ذي الحجّة سنة ثلاث وعشرين، وكانت خلافته عشر سنين وستة أشهر وأربعة أيام وكان ابن ثلاث وستين سنة، ودفن مع النبي ﷺ الى جنب أبي بكر ﵄.
