١٨٤٠ - فارس بني مروان أبو الوليد العباس بن الوليد بن عبد الملك بن مروان الأموي الغازي. (٥)ذكره الحافظ أبو القاسم علي بن الحسن ابن عساكر في تاريخه وقال: كان يسكن حمص استعمله أبوه عليها وولاه المغازي غير مرة وكان فارسا سخيا وكان يقال له «فارس بني مروان» وافتتح مدنا وحصونا كثيرة من بلاد الروم وكان علي بن عبد الله بن العباس وعلي بن الحسين بن علي وعلي بن عبد الله بن جعفر يقدّمونه على الوليد بن عبد الملك، وكان الوليد يجد بابنه العباس وجدا شديدا وكان له من قلبه أحسن موقع فأدبه موقع فأدبه بجميع الآداب وله شعر حسن ومات بحران سنة تسع وعشرين مائة.
