محمد بن أحمد بن محمد بن حسين، المعروف بالأسطواني: فقيه حنفي، إخباري، واعظ، من أهل دمشق، تعلم بها وبالقاهرة. ودخل عاصمة الخلافة وولي الإمامة بجامع السلطان أحمد، فالوعظ في جامعالسلطان أبي الفتح محمد خان. وعاد إلى دمشق فتصدر للتدريس في الجامع الأموي. قال المحبي: "ظفرت له بتحريرات على عبارات في التفسير والفقه .. " (١). المسناوي [١٠٧٢ - ١١٣٦ هـ / ١٦٦١ - ١٧٢٣ م]
