أحمد بن يوسف بن أحمد بن يوسف بن إبراهيم السلمي الفاسى، أبو العباس، المعروف بابن فرتون: مؤرخ، عارف بالتفسير والحديث والرجال. ولد بفاس، وتعلم بها وبسبتة، ثم دخل الأندلس سنة ٦٣٥ هـ، فأخذ عن علماء مالقةوالجزيرة الخضراء وعاد إلى سبتة، فاستقر بها إلى أن توفي عن سن عالية. من آثاره "الاستدراك والإتمام للتعريف والإعلام" استدرك فيه على السهيلي (انظر ترجمته) في كتابه "التعريف والإعلام".
