محمد بن المطهر بن يحي بن المرتضى بن المطهر، من سلالة الهادي إلى الحق: إمام زيدي، كان فقيها، عارفا بالتفسير، واسع العلم، ولد بهجرة الكريش من بلاد الأهنوم، وبويع بالخلافة بعد موت أبيه (سنة ٦٩٠ هـ). كانت بينه وبين سلاطين اليمن (بني رسول) وقائع كثيرة. توفي في ذي مرمر ودفن بصنعاء. من آثاره "عقود العقيان في الناسخ والمنسوخ من القرآن" قال الزركلي: "رأيت مخطوطة المجدد الأول منه فى مكتبة الأمبروزيانة" (١). البطاوري [... - ١٣٥٥ هـ / ... - ١٩٣٦ م]
