محمد بن علي بن محمد بن عبد الله بن الحسن بن محمد الشوكاني، أبو عبد الله: فقيه، أصولي، محدث، مفسر، من كبار علماء اليمن، من أهل صنعاء. ولد ب "هجرة شوكان" - من بلاد خولان باليمن - ونشأ وتعلم بصنعاء"، وولي قضاءها سنة ١٢٢٩ ومات بها. له أكثر من مئة كتاب منها "فتح القدير الجامع بين فني الرواية والدراية من علم التفسير" طبع، خمسة مجلدات، و "مطلع البدرين ومجمع البحرين" في التفسير أيضا، و "جواب السائل في تفسير ﴿والقمر قدرناه منازل ..﴾ " (٢).الهندي [... - ١٢٦٠ هـ / ... - ١٨٤٤ م]
