محمد بن عبد الواحد بن أبي هاشم، أبو عمر المطرز الباوردي، المعروف بغلام (ثعلب)ثعلب: من أئمة اللغة. نسبته إلى باورد (وهي أبي ورد بخراسان). صحب ثعلبا النحوي زمانا حتى لقب "غلام ثعلب"، وأكثر من الأخذ عنه، واستدرك على كتابه الفصيح. وكان الأشراف والكتاب وأهل الأدب يحضرون عنده ليسمعوا منه كتب ثعلب وغيرها. قيل أنه أملى من حفظه ثلاثين ألف ورقة. وتوفي ببغداد. من كتبه "اليواقيت" رسالة في غريب القرآن، مخطوطة (١). الطبري [... - بعد ٤٤٦ هـ / ... - بعد ١٠٥٤ م]
