محمد بن عبد الله بن سليمان الحضرمي الكوفي، أبو جعفر، المعروف بمطين: من حفاظ الحديث، كان محدث الكوفة في عصره. حط عليه محمد بن عثمان بن أبي شيبة، وحط هو على ابن أبي شيبة، وآل أمرهما إلى القطيعة. قال ابن حجر: "مطين وثقه الناس وما أصغوا إلى ابن أبي شيبة". لقب مطين لأنه كان وهو صغير يلعب مع الصبيان في الماء فيطينون ظهره" من كتبه "تفسير القرآن" (١). البردعي [... - حيا ٣٤٠ هـ / ... - حيا ٩٥١ م]
