محمد بن الحسن (وقبل: الحسين، وقيل: عبد الحسن) بن سليمان الزوزني، أبو جعفر: فقيه شافعي، مفسر، قاض، محدث، شاعر. ولي القضاء بنواحي خراسان وما وراء النهر. ذكر أن مصنفاته في التفسير والحديث والفقه وأنواع العلوم، تزيد على المائة. قدم على الصاحب بن عباد، فعرض عليه القضاء على شرط انتحال مذهبه - يعني الاعتزال - فامتنع وقال: "لا أبيع الدين بالدنيا" قال مترجموه: "وكان مع علو مرتبته في العلم يحب منصب القضاء". توفي ببخارى. (١) الختن [٣١١ - ٣٨٦ هـ / ٩٢٤ - ٩٩٦ م]
