محمد بن حاتم بن ميمون المروزي ثم البغدادي، أبو عبد الله القطيعي، المعروف بالسمين: حافظ للحديث، مفسر، أصله من مرو، وسكن بغداد. روى عن وكيع وابن عيينة وابن مهدي والقطان وطبقتهم. وروى عنه مسلم وأبو داود وأبو زرعة وأبو حاتم وغيرهم. وثقه ابن عدي والدارقطني، وذكره ابن حبان في الثقات، قال أبوحفص الفلاس: ليس بشيء، وقال الذهبي: "وهذا جرح مردود". ونقل الذهبي عن ابن سعد قوله: "جمع كتابا في "تفسير القرآن" كتبه عنه الناس ببغداد، وكان ينزل قطيعة الربيع".
