محمد بخيت بن حسين المطيعي الحنفي: مفتي الديار المصرية، ومنكبار فقهائها. ولد في بلدة المطيعة من أعمال أسيوط، وقدم القاهرة في أوائل سنة ١٢٨١، وتعلم في الأزهر، ودرس فيه. ثم عمل في القضاء الشرعي سنة ١٢٩٧ هـ، واتصل بالسيد جمال الدين الأفغاني. وقام الشيخ محمد عبده بحركته الإصلاحية، فكان من أشد المعارضين له، وفي سنة ١٣٣٣ هـ (١٩١٤ م) عين مفتيا للديار المصرية، فاستمر إلى سنة ١٣٣٩ هـ (١٩٢١ م). ومات بالقاهرة. من كتبه "المدخل المنير في مقدمة علم التفسير" (١) ابن بركات [٤٢٠ - ٥٢٠ هـ / ١٠٢٩ - ١١٢٦ م]
