علي بن عبد الله بن جعفر بن نجيح السعدي بالولاء، المديني، البصري، (أبو الحسن)أبو الحسن: محدث، مؤرخ، أصولي، نسابة، لغوي، كان حافظ عصره. أصله من المدينة، ولد بالبصرة، وسمع أباه وهشيما وابن عيينة وطبقتهم، وعنه البخاري وأبو داود وجماعة، وتوفي بسر من رأى (سامراء). قال النووي: "صنف في الحديث مائتي مصنف لم يسبق إلى معظمها ولم يلحق في كثير منه". وقال أبود حاتم: "كان علما في الناس في معرفة الحديث والعلل، وما سمعت أحمد بن حنبل سماه قط إنما كان يكنيه تبجيلا له". من تصانيفه الكثيرة "أسباب النزول" قيل هو أول من صنف فيه (١). ابن أبي الطيب [... - ٤٥٨ هـ / ... - ١٠٦٦ م]
