عثمان بن عبد الرحمن (صلاح الدين) بن عثمان بن موسى الكردي الشهرزوري الشرخاني، أبو عمرو، تقي الدين، المعروف بابن الصلاح: عارف بالحديث والفقه والتفسير وأسماء الرجال. ولد في شرخان (قرب شهرزور) وسمع بها وبالموصل وبغداد وهمذان ونيسابور ودمشق وحلب وحران. ودرس بالمدرسة الصلاحية ببيت المقدس، ثم دخل دمشق ودرس بالرواحية، ثم ولي مشيخة دار الحديث الأشرفية، فالتدريس بالشامية الصغرى. قال ابن خلكان: "كان أحد فضلاء عصره في التفسير والحديث والفقه، وله مشاركة في عدة فنون، وكانت فتاواه مسددة" (١).عثمان بن عفان [٤٧ ق هـ - ٣٥ هـ / ٥٧٧ - ٦٥٦ م]
