عبد الرحمن بن سليمان بن أبي أكرم بن سليمان، أبو الفرج، الدمشقي الصالحي، ويعرف بأبي شعر: مفسر، أصولي، نحوي، زاهد، من فقهاء الحنابلة. ولد في دمشق، وبها نشأ وأخذ عن أعلامها. حج، وجاور مرتين، فأخذ عنه أكابر مكة، ووعظ فيها. قال البقاعي: "له في التفسير عمل كثير ويد طولى" ووصفه السخاوي: "بعلامة الزمان، وترجمان القرآن" وذكره المقريزي في عقوده وقال: "برع في التفسير وكثر استحضاره له .. الخ" (١). ابن الأهدل [١١٧٩ - ١٢٥٠ هـ / ١٧٦٦ - ١٨٢٥ م]
