عمر بن مكي بن عبد الصمد الشيخ الإمام زين الدين بن المرحل الشافعي خطيب دمشق ووكيل بيت المال بها، تفقه على الشيخ عزالدين بن عبد السلام، وقرأ علم الكلام وأصول الفقه على الشمس الخسروشاهي وغيره، وكان مع ذلك يتمسك بطريقة السلف الصالح ودرس وأفتى، وكانت له فنون يتقنها، وهو من أعيان فضلاء وقته وعلمائهم، وهو والد العلامة صدر الدين ابن الوكيل، توفي إلى رحمة الله تعالى ليلة السبت الثالث والعشرين من ربيع الأول سنة إحدى وتسعين وست مائة، وصلى عليه الشيخ عز الدين الفاروقي الذي ولي الخطابة بعده، ودفن بمقبرة الباب الصغير، رحمه الله تعالى.
