داود بن عمر بن يوسف بن يحيى بن عمر بن كامل الخطيب عماد الدين أبو المعالي أبو سليمان الزبيدي المقدسي ثم الدمشقي الشافعي خطيب بيت الآبار وابن خطيبها، سمع الخشوعي، وابن طبرزد، وحنبل، وجماعة وعنه: الدمياطي، والشيخ زين الدين الفاروقي، والفخر ابن عساكر، وجماعة، وكان دينا فصيحا مهيبًا فقيهًا ولي خطابة دمشق، وتدريس الغزالية بعد انفصال الشيخ عز الدين بن عبد السلام دمشق، ثم عزل بعد ست سنين ورجع خطابة بلده، ومات في حادي عشر شعبان سنة ست وخمسين وست مائة، وله ستون سنة، وتأسف الناس عليه.
