علي بن يوسف بن عبد الله بن بندار زين الدين أبو الحسن المصري قاضي القضاة بها، وقد أقام قبل ذلك بدمشق، وأصلهم من بغداد، وكان أبوه أحد الأعلام ببغداد، تفقه على أبيه ثم سافر وقد برع في المذهب، وكان محتشما رئيسا، فقيها متواضعا خيرًا حسن الأخلاق محبًا لأهل العلم، سمع مسند الإمام الشافعي من أبي زرعة المقدسي، وعنه ابنه أبو العباس أحمد، والحافظ زكي الدين البرزالي، والأبرقوهي وغيرهم، توفي بالقاهرة في ثالث عشر جمادى الآخرة سنة اثنين وعشرين وست مائة عن سبع وستين سنة، ﵀.
