علي بن الخطاب بن مقلد الفقيه المقري أبو الحسن الواسطي المحدثي والمحدث من قرى واسط الشافعي الضرير تفقه على أبي القاسم يحيى بن فضلان شيخ بغداد وبرع في المذهب والخلاف ودرس، وأعاد وأفاد وأفتى، وكان قيما يعلم العربية والقراءات، وأقبلت عليه الدنيا حتى صار من جلساء الإمام المستنصر بالله، وسمع الحديث من أبي الفتح بن شاتيل وجماعة، وتوفي في سنة ثمان وعشرين وست مائة عن سبع وستين سنة.
