محمد بن علي بن أبي نصر فخر الدين أبو عبد الله النوقاني الفقيه الشافعي الأصوليتفقه بخراسان على محمد بن يحيى النيسابوري، وبرع في المذهب، ودرس ببغداد، وترددت إليه الطلبة، ورام تدريس النظامية، فبنت والدة الإمام الناصر لدين الله مدرسة، وجعلته مدرسها، وخلعوا عليه وحضر عنده الأعيان، وألقى أربعة دروس وأعطاه ولده، وكان شيخا مهيبًا له يد طولى في التفسير، والفقه، والجدل مع ما هو فيه من العبادة والصلاح، وحج فعاد فمات بالكوفة في ثالث صفر سنة ست وتسعين وخمس مائة.
