عبد الرحمن بن الحسن بن عبد الرحمن بن طاهر بن محمد أبو طالب ابن العجمي الحلبي الشافعي أحد الرؤساء، رحل إلى بغداد، فتفقه بها على أبي بكر الشاشي، وأسعد الميهني، وسمع من أبي القاسم بن بيان، ثم عاد إلى بلده، فتقدم وساد وبنى للشافعية مدرسة مليحة، وكانت له همة، وفيه عصبية، ومحبة للعلماء، وقد تولى عمارة المسجد الجامع ببعلبك الأتابك زنكي بن أقسنفر صاحب حلب ثم حج، وولي عمارة المسجد الحرام لصاحب الموصل، وعنه أبو سعد السمعاني والأستاذ أبو محمد بن علوان، وأبو القاسم بن صصرى وآخرون، مولده سنة ثمان وأربع مائة، وتوفي في نصف شعبان سنة إحدى وستين وخمس مائة.
