الفضل بن أحمد بن عبد الله بن محمد بن عبد الله بن أحمد الإمام أمير المؤمنين الخليفة المسترشد باللهوهو الذي صنف أبو بكر الشاشي كتابه العمدة من أجله، وباسمه اشتهر الكتاب، فإنه كان يلقب قبل الخلافة وبعدها بعمدة الدين والدنيا وعدة الإسلام والمسلمين، بويع بالخلافة سنة ثنتي عشرة وخمس مائة وهو ابن سبع وعشرين سنة، وكان ذا رأي وفض وهيبة وشجاعة، وجرت له فصول وخطوب إلى أن أسر في آخر عمره وحمل إلى أذربيجان، فقتله الملاحدة في سنة تسع وعشرين وخمس مائة رحمه الله تعالى ذكره ابن الصلاح.
