كتايب بن علي أبو علي الفارقي الفقيه الشافعي التاجر نزيل الإسكندرية، وكان من أعيان التجار وخيار الناس، سمع الحديث وهو أكبر من أبي طاهر محمد بن الحسين بن سعدون الموصلي بمصر سنة سبع وأربعين وأربع مائة، وعنه الحافظ أبو طاهر السلفي، وعبد الله العثماني، وعلي بن مهران القرميسيني، توفي في جمادى الآخرة سنة ست عشرة وخمس مائة.
