المظفر بن الحسين بن إبراهيم بن هرثمة أبو منصور الفارسي الإرجاني ثم العرنوي قال السمعاني: هو شيخ إمام فقيه عارف بالحديث وطرقه، صنف تصانيف في الحديث، وسمع ببغداد أبا الطيب الطبري، وأبا القاسم التنوخي، وبالهند أبا الحسن محمد بن الحسن البصري، وبعرنة حنبل بن أحمد بن حنبل البيع، وبمصر أبا الحسن الطفال، وعبد الملك بن مسكين، وقدم بلخ فحدث بها، وروى عنه أبو شجاع عمرالبسطامي، وأبو حفص عمر بن عمر الأشهبي وغيرهما، وتوفي ببغداد بعد التسعين وأربع مائة.
