علي بن عبد الرحمن بن هارون بن عيسى بن هارون بن الجراح الرئيس أبو الخطاب الشافعي إمام أمير المؤمنين المستظهر بالله في التراويح، وكان مقرئًانحويًا حسن الكتابة عالمًا باللغة، ختم عليه جماعة، وصنف منظومة في القراءات، وسمع الحديث من أبي القاسم بن بشران، ومحمد بن عمر بن بكر النجار وجماعة، وعنه عبد الوهاب الأنماطي، وعمر المغازلي، والحافظ السلفي، وأثنى عليه خيرًا في فضائله وعلمه، ولد سنة تسع وقيل: عشر وأربع مائة، وتوفي في ذي الحجة سنة سبع وتسعين وأربع مائة.
