أحمد بن إبراهيم بن أحمد أبو العباس الرازي ثم المصري ويعرف بابن الحطاب كان شافعي المذهب، قرأ بالروايات على أبي عبد الله الكارزيني بمكة، ورحل إلى اليمن، والشام، ومصر، وسمع الحديث من أبي الحسن السمسار بدمشق، وشعيب بن المنهال، وإسماعيل بن عمرو الحداد وعلي بن منير الخلال بمصر، وجماعة كثيرة، وروى عنه ابنه أبو عبد الله الرازي صاحب المشيخة، والسداسيات، وغيث بن علي الأرمنازي، وكتب عنه من القدماء أبو زكريا عبد الرحمن البخاري، ومكي الرميلي، مات سنة إحدى وتسعين وأربع مائة.
