عبد الرحمن بن نصر بن مالك الإمام أبو طاهر الساوي الشافعي قال شيخنا الحافظ أبو عبد الله الذهبي: ولد بأصبهان ثم رحل إلى سمرقند وسمع بها، وكان فقيهًا إمامًا في وقته، سمع بالعراق والحجاز، وكان أبوه أمير الحاج، قدم أصبهان في سنة اثنين وثمانين وأربع مائة، وكتب عنه جماعة، قال يحيى بن منده: لم ير فقيهًا في وقته أنصف منه.
