محمد بن أحمد بن محمد بن أحمد بن القاسم أبو الفضل ابن العلامة أبي الحسن المحاملي الفقيه الشافعي سمع أبا الحسين بن بشران، وأبا علي بن شاذان وجماعة، وأخذ عنه مكي الرميلي وغيره، وكان من الأذكياء الأعيان، مات سنة سبع وسبعين وأربع مائة، قال الشيخ تقي الدين ابن الصلاح في طبقاته عن أبي نصر السمعاني أنه قال عنه: اشتغل في حداثة سنة على أبيه أبي الحسن، ثم ترك الفقه واشتغل بالدنيا، وكانت له حلقة أيام الجمع بجامع القصر يقرأ عليه فيها الحديث والتفسير، وكان فهمًا عالمًا ذكيًا سمع الكثير، ولم ينقل عنه إلا اليسير، ثم أرخ وفاته كما تقدم.
