علي بن الحسين بن أبي بكر أحمد بن الحسن الحافظ أبو الفضل الهمداني، المعروف بابن الفلكينسبة إلى معرفة هيئة الفلك وحسابه، رحل، وصنف الأشياء المفيدة، فمنها: كتاب الألقاب، ومنها: منتهى الكمال في معرفة الرجال، في ألف جزء، وكان حافظا، متقنا، قال شيخ الإسلام الأنصاري: ما رأت عيناي في البشر أحدا أحفظ منه، وذكره ابن الصلاح في الطبقات، ولم يؤرخ وفاته.
