فارس بن زكريا بن حبيب أبو أحمد والد الإمام أبي الحسين أحمد بن فارس اللغوي صاحب المجمل كان فارس هذا فقيها، شافعيا، فيما ذكره ابن الصلاح، وأما ابنه فكان كذلك، ثم انتقل إلى مذهب مالك، ﵀، وتوفي في صفر سنة خمس وتسعين وثلاث مائة، وذكروا أنه كان يصنف كل ليلة جمعة كتابا، ثم يبيعه قبل الصلاة، ويتصدق بثمنه.
