أحمد بن محمد بن أحمد بن القطان البغدادي آخر أصحاب ابن سريج وفاة، قاله الشيخ أبو إسحاق، قال: ودرس ببغداد، وأخذ عنه العلماء، وقال الحافظ أبو بكر الخطيب البغدادي: هو من كبراء الشافعيين، وله مصنفات في أصول الفقه وفروعه، قال: وقال القاضي أبو الطيب: مات ابن القطان، في جمادى الأولى سنة تسع وخمسين وثلاث مائة، ﵀.
