أحمد بن محمد بن ساكن أبو عبد الله الزنجاني الفقيه من كبار الأئمة، رحل إلى العراق، ومصر، وتفقه على المزني وغيره، وسمع الحديث من إسماعيل ابن بنت السدي، وأبي مصعب، وأبي كليب، والحسن بن علي الحلواني، وغيرهم، وعنه عبد الرحمن بن أبي حاتم، وعلي بن إبراهيم بن سلمة القطان، ويوسف بن القاسم الميانجي، وجماعة آخرون، آخرهم موتا إبراهيم بن أبي حماد الأبهري، قال الحافظ أبو يعلى الخليلي: توفي قبل الثلاث مائة وبقي إلى سنة تسع وتسعين ومائتين، ﵀، ورضي عنه.
