ثم دخلت سنة ثمان وخمسمائة فمن الحوادث فيها: أنه وقع في جمادى الأولى حريق عظيم في الريحانيين ومنظرة باب بدر، وهلك فيه عقار جليل. قال المصنف: ورأيت بخط شيخنا أبي بكر بن عبد الباقي البزاز، قال: ورد إلى بغداد في يوم الخميس سابع عشر رجب من سنة ثمان وخمسمائة كتاب ذكر فيه: أنه كان في ليلة الأحد ثامن عشر جمادى الآخرة من هذه السنة زلزله حدثت فوقع منها في مدينة الرها من سورها ثلاثة عشر برجا ووقع بعض سور حران، ووقعت دور كثيرة على عالم فهلكوا، وأنه خسف بسميساط، وخسف بموضع، وتساقط في بالس نحو مائة دار، وقلب بنصف القلعة وسلم نصفها.
