    ثم دخلت سنة اثنتين وسبعين ومائتين فمن الحوادث فيها: أن العامة تجمعوا في ربيع الآخر فهدموا ما كان بني من البيعة التي ذكرنا خرابهم إياها في السنة الخالية، وانتهبوا مالا عظيما منها، لأنهم أنكروا عليهم ركوب الدواب. وورد الخبر في جمادى الآخرة [١] أن مصر زلزلت زلازل أخرجت الدور ومسجد الجامع، وأنه أحصي بها في يوم واحد ألف جنازة. وفيها: تحركت الزنج بواسط، وكان رؤساؤهم في حبس [٢] ابن طاهر، فقتل رؤساءهم وصلبوا. وفيها: قدم المعتمد بغداد لخمس بقين من شوال، فنزل الزعفرانية، ومحمد بن عَبْد اللَّهِ بن طاهر بين يديه بالحربة. وحج بالناس في هذه السنة هارون بن مُحَمَّد الهاشمي.
