١١٩٨- أسد بن الفرات بن سنان، أبو عبد الله الفقيه. قاضي إفريقية مغربي صاحب الكتب على مذهب مالك المعروفة بالأسدية. ولد سنة أربعين ومائة، وكان عنده الموطأ عن مالك، وأقام بالكوفة، فكتب عن أهلها وكتب بالري عن جرير بن عبد الله بن عبد الحميد. وتوفي بصقلية في ربيع الآخر [٤] من هذه السنة. وهو محاصر بسرقوسة، وهو أمير تلك السرية.
