وفي هذه السنة عزل عبد الله بن الزبير عبد الله بن يزيد عن الكوفة وولاها عبد الله بن مطيع، ونزع عن المدينة أخاه عبيدة بن الزبير وولاها أخاه مصعب بن الزبير. وكان له سبب عزله أخاه عبيدة بن الزبير أنه خطب فقال: قد رأيتم ما صنع بقوم في ناقة قيمتها خمسمائة درهم، فسمي مقوم الناقة [١] ، وبلغ ذلك ابن الزبير، فقال: هذا لهو التكلف.
